Obituary for Johnson

Jacob Earl Johnson, 79, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, whose family had deep roots in Old Town Albuquerque, passed away after a short illness on Friday, May 30, 2003. Jake is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jean Johnson of the family home; and daughter, Katherine Hess Johnson of Apple Valley, CA. Jake was a Corpsman in the United States Marine Corp. in the South Pacific during WWII. He worked for the New Mexico State Highway Department and subsequently for the Albuquerque Gravel Products Company where he retired after 30 years as a foreman. Jake was an avid antique and gun collector, a hobby that he enjoyed since his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed many hours in the outdoors metal detecting with his close friends. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with Chaplain Col. Lemuel M. Boyles, U.S.A.F. (Ret.) officiating.
