Obituary for Mendez

Alfredo Garcia Mendez went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ. He was born July 24, 1920. A resident of Albuquerque since 1950, he and his family came from Santa Fe, NM. He was a Disabled American Veteran who served in the army in the South Pacific during WWII and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon and the Purple Heart. He retired from the City of Albuquerque in 1985, was a Life Member of VFW Post 401 and a member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Angie of 59 years; son, Paul Mendez and wife, Georgianne of Corrales; daughters, Lucy Martinez and husband, Don, and Marie Apodaca and husband, Joe, both of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four brothers and one sister, all of the San Francisco Bay area. Services will be held Tuesday 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Pallbearers will be Paul A. Mendez, Adonais Martinez, Gabriel Martinez, Jason Apodaca, Adrian Carrillo, and Robert Swessel. Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, Monday 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. French Mortuary 1111 University Blvd. NE 843-6333
