Jose (Aparcio), age 85, beloved and devoted father, grandfather and brother was called home to be with the Lord our Savior and his beloved wife Lucia on Sunday, June 15, 2003. Aparcio was a lifelong resident of Cuba, NM; where he was a rancher, a business owner; and a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. He worked as a Livestock Inspector for 35 years; and was a proud World War II Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reyes and Eutimia Gurule; a son, Lawrence Oliver Gurule; brothers, Steve, Robert and Mere Gurule; and a sister, Lucarita Martinez. Jose is survived by loving children, Bobby Gurule and wife Debra, Jeffrey Gurule and wife Darlene, Donna Montoya and husband Anthony; his precious grandchildren, Samuel Gurule, Lindy Gurule, Matthew Gurule, Renee Gurule, Isaac Montoya, Andrea Maestas and husband Kelly, Christopher Gurule, Ryan Montoya, B.J. Montoya, Vanessa Gurule; his great-grandchildren, Joshua Maestas, Mariah Maestas, Alexis Gurule, Lawrence Gurule and Aliza Gurule. Also surviving are one brother, Ernest Gurule and wife Henrietta; five sisters, Gregorita (Golla) Archuleta, Isabel Torrez, Theresa Velarde, Marcia Gurule, Lala Carrothers and husband Don; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Aparcio will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be held Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary; where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Aparcio will lie in state Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Cuba, NM; where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will follow at the Cuba Catholic Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Samuel Gurule, Matthew Gurule, Isaac Montoya, Christopher Gurule, Ryan Montoya, and Bonifacio Montoya.
