Reynaldo (Rey) Griego, 62 years, left to go home to the loving arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ, Monday, June 16, 2003. Rey fought long and hard to recover from a brief illness. Rey was born and raised in La Joya, New Mexico, where he graduated high school in 1958. He retired from Sandia National Laboratories in October 2002 after 28 years of service. Rey and his music will be missed by all. Rey is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Barbara; his children, Roberta Garcia and her husband, Randy, Patrick Griego and his wife, Denise; Jessica and her husband, Mario Mauricio; and Rey Mora; and his mother-in-law, Susie Gow. Rey loved and enjoyed his grandchildren very much Cecily, Gilbert, Jared, Joshua, and Brandon. Rey was the son of the late Baltazar and Bennie Griego and was raised with two brothers and eight sisters. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Aurora (Lola) Griego, Bonifacio Griego, Lucy and her husband, Rudy Cordova, Jose Alferes Griego, Maria (Tommie) Helms, and Beatrice and her husband, Bennie Lopez. Rey is also survived by three sisters, Eva Sanchez and her husband, Milton; Edwina Abeyta and her husband, Marcel; and Fidelma Romero and her husband Robert; two sister in laws, Emma Griego and Carol Chavez; one brother-in-law, Rodney Helms and many nieces and nephews. Rosary for Rey will be recited Thursday, June 19, 2003, 7:00 p.m., San Jose Catholic Parish, 2401 Broadway SE, and Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, June 20, 2003, 10:00 a.m., also at San Jose Catholic Parish. Rey will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial, Edith and Menaul. Pallbearers, Andrew Abeyta, Timothy Abeyta, Wilfred Gallegos, Alex Gow, Randy Gow, and Anthony Lopez.
