Obituary for Martinez

Luther Frank Martinez, Jr., 64, a resident of Albuquerque since 1994, passed away on June 24, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Alice Martinez of Albuquerque; four sons, Michael Moore and wife, Lenore of Albuquerque, Randy Martinez of Davis, CA, Jason Martinez and wife, Trisha of Portland, OR, and David Jones and wife, Lorie of Evansville, IN; a daughter, Terri Jones of Lake Havasu, AZ; mother, C. Lily Martinez of Albuquerque; three brothers, Vern Martinez of Denver, CO, Leroy Martinez of Mission Viejo, CA and Lemuel Martinez of Albuquerque; one sister, Linda Alvarado of Denver, CO. Luther is also survived by ten grandchildren. He was a member of Family Worship Center. Mr. Martinez was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he was a member of the Navy Wrestling Team and was an alternate in the 1964 Olympic Games in Japan. Also while in the Navy, he won a position as First Trumpet in the Naval Dance Band. Later, Mr. Martinez coached and officiated high school wrestling. Service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Family Worship Center, 5200 Iliff Rd. NW with Pastor Steve Ulibarri, officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Leroy Martinez, Mike Martinez, Michael Kim Moore, Randy Martinez, Jason Martinez and Derik Martinez. Friends may visit French Mortuary - Westside Chapel on Sunday, June 29, 2003 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family Worship Center, 5200 Iliff Rd.
