Obituary for Hernandez

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday July 13, 2003

Jesus H. Hernandez, 91, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2003. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years, Bertha; and his sisters, Soledad and Alice. Jesus is survived by his son, Jess and Dianne; grandchildren, Cynthia and Robert Schwartz, PhD., Juana Hernandez, Steven P.E., CEM, and Elena Hernandez, Kristina Pulliam and Maria Tes and Gerald Charlton, M.D.; and great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Michael Antonio, Marcos, Francisco, Victoria, Amanda, Michaela, Estevan, and Alejandro; and sisters, Mary Louise and Carmen. Mr. Hernandez retired from the AT&SF Railroad after 45 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, always living and teaching his family how to be responsible, respectful to others, and to follow the teachings of the Catholic Church. He was always generous, not only with his own family, but also with friends and strangers in need. This was a tradition for him and his wife, Bertha, and one that they both passed on to their family. They never said no to anyone who came to them for help. Chuey is already sadly missed because his presence meant strength and confidence to tackle any problem, stability to know that tomorrow would bring better things, and humility to acknowledge that one should never believe that they are above anyone else. God Bless You and thank you for a wonderful life. A rosary will be recited Sunday, July 13, 2003, at 5:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 14, 2003, at 1:00 p.m., at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steven Hernandez, Marcos Martinez, Gerald Charlton, Robert Schwartz, Gene Romero, and Eli Padilla. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, Sunday, July 13, 2003, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. French Mortuary 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE 823-9400
