Obituary for Chavez

Andrew George (Bubbles) Vincent Chavez, born February 4, 1964, died on July 14, 2003, following a courageous battle with adrenomyeloneuropathy. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Daniel S. Chavez and Carlos L. Chavez, his Sunshine. Four nephews, Anthony Michael Martinez III, William Joseph Martinez, Kenneth P. Jones, II and Erik Thomas Arvizu, also afflicted with the same dystrophy, preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother, Esther Gauna Chavez; siblings, Kathy Armijo and husband, Steve, Annette Arvizu and husband, Salvador, Theresa Chavez, Helen Chavez and fiancé, Jim Carpenter, Diann Jones and husband, Ken, Patrick Chavez, Carla Barker and husband, Troy, Theresa Davis and husband, Richard, Dina Gonzales and Trini Martinez. He is also survived by numerous relatives and friends. Andrew retired from Baldridge Lumber Company where he was a lumber sales clerk. He also had his own lawn service business and loved to garden and work with flowers. He was also involved for many years as a certified pyrotechnician and an aide at the Montesorri on the Rio Grande School. Andrew was a life long member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish where he was active in their bible study class. Family and friends may visit Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 1860 Griegos Road NW, Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Rosary will be recited on Friday, July 18, 2003, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Mass of the Resurrection will be Saturday, July 19, 12:00 noon at St. Mary's Parish in Vaughn, NM with internment following at Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers include Patrick Chavez, Ziggy Chavez, Daniel (D.J.) Martinez, Ken Jones, Steve Armijo, Salvador Arvizu, Robert Montoya, Marcello Ruiz and Joe Ruiz. Honorary pallbearers will be all his nieces and nephews. The Chavez family would like to thank Vista Care and Odyssey Hospice, and Premier Home Care for their attentive and compassionate care. And special thanks for the numerous prayers and loving support from friends and family. Andrew was committed to finding a cure for adrenomyeloneuropathy future generations will benefit from his DNA sample, tissue and organ donation, and participation in countless research endeavors at Kennedy Krieger Institute, at Johns Hopkins Institute.
