Richard Valdez"Dickie" was born April 28, 1944 in Durango, Co., and passed away July 22, 2003 in Albuquerque. He enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, and shooting pool. Dickie was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Valdez; and daughter, Christine Buenabenta. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Maria Deluvina Valdez of the family home in Bernalillo; son, Ernest Valdez and wife, Lisa of Los Lunas; daughter, Sandra Urban of Sile; mother, Gavina Valdez of Cuba; two sisters, Joann Sanchez and husband, Ernesto of Bloomfield, and Virginia Trujillo of Bernalillo; one brother Tony Valdez Jr., of Cuba; ten grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; other family and friends who loved and will miss him. A Rosary will be recited at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, on Friday, July 25, 2003, at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM, on Saturday, July 26, 2003 at 8:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Cuba Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andrew, Sammy, Stevie, Ernest, Danny, Brian and Antonio. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW.
