Obituary for Sachs

Michael L. Sachs, loving son, brother, and uncle peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at his home in Belen. Michael was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. In his senior year at Belen High School, he played football, #31, for the eagles and was also voted"Most Popular" by his peers. Later, Michael proudly served his country with the U.S Army as a Peacetime veteran and served with the Army Reserves for three years. Michael spent his remaining days trying to live life to the fullest. Even in those final days, he held no grudges and knew he was loved by all. He loved his family dearly. He also enjoyed traveling and making new friends. Michael was a fun loving person, full of joy, love and laughter. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Michael is preceded in death by his father, Herman E. Sachs in 1999. He is survived by his life partner of over 16 years, Manuel Jaramillo of Belen; his mother, Shirley Sachs of Belen; his two sisters, Anna Sachs-Martinez of Belen; and Lisa and her husband, Martin Barela of Albuquerque, NM; his six brothers, Stephen and Rita of Roswell, NM; Sammy of Belen; Chris and his wife, Teresa of Albuquerque; Greg and his wife, Kathy of Belen and California; Richard of Belen; and David of Belen; seven nieces; six nephews; and one very special aunt, Bonnie Heer of North Little Rock, Arkansas. Michael is also survived by many more loving family members and friends. All services will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel beginning with a visitation on Saturday, July 26, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. with a rosary following at 10:30 a.m. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon Manuel Gallegos officiating.
