Obituary for Schmidlapp

Big Al (Frederick Allen Schmidlapp), 56, died Friday August 22, 2003. Al was born August 10,1947 in Piqua, Ohio. He was raised in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from North Ridge High School class of 1965. Al attended Ohio Tech and was recruited by Los Alamos National Labs upon graduation in 1967. He worked and lived in Los Alamos for four years, and then became a resident of Albuquerque. Al was a very loving and gentle man who loved children and his friends. Al was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back for you. He loved anything with wheels and a motor especially Fords and Harley Davidson's. He loved the outdoors very much, so he enjoyed hunting and volunteering with the Boy Scouts. He is survived by his wife, Norean of 33 years; his two sons, Steven and J. T .of Albuquerque; his mother, Duskey Schmidlapp of Huber Heights, Ohio; his brother, Gary of Edgewood, and his sister, Jenny Glass of Miami, Ohio. Al attended church with the Sunport Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Funeral services are being held at the Haines Street Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5709 Haines NE., on Wednesday August 27, 2003.
