Maria G. (Valtierra-Coronado Gonzales-Granados) Castro, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, age 94, born January 13, 1909 in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico and a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico for 50 years, passed away August 22, 2003 to a better place in heaven to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and Our Lady of Guadalupe. A devout Catholic, she was a member of the Legion of Mary, and member of St. Edwin Parish. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Basilio Castro, three sons, and two daughters. She is survived by her two sons, Charles Castro and wife Viola and Arthur Castro both of Albuquerque, NM; three daughters, Carmen Mazer and Gloria Smith and husband Bob both of Albuquerque, NM, and Polly Mich and husband Alex of Tucson, AZ; her grandchildren Mike Castro of Albuquerque, Angela Olguin and husband Paul of Chandler, AZ, Richard Mich of Pittsburgh, PA, Laura Mich of Pittsburgh, PA, Robert Mich of Phoenix, AZ; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Monday, August 25, 2003. Burial of Christian Mass will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at 8:30 a.m. at St. Edwin Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona Rd. SW, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chico Martinez, Ernesto Romero, Mike Castro, Bob Smith, Paul Olguin, and Doyle Woodard.
