Obituary for Wagner

Paul Ross Wagner, 78, of Amarillo, TX died August 19, 2003. Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2003 at St. Luke Presbyterian Church with Dr. Pat Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Cherry Valley, NY. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Amarillo, TX. Mr. Wagner was born October 4, 1924 in Ilion, NY and married Elizabeth Hubrich on April 6, 1948. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1945 with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and commissioned an Ensign, starting a career of 22 years in the navy. In July of 1974 until January of 1985 he became area manager of the Amarillo Atomic Energy Commission now the DOE. He served on the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission from July 1974 until January 1975, then the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration, January 1975 until October 1977 and the U.S. Department of Energy from October 1977 until January 1985; he retired from the U.S. Civil Service as a member of the Senior Executive Service. Mr. Wagner was a devoted member of St. Luke Presbyterian Church, serving as Clerk of the Session and a member of the choir. His wife and two daughters, Shirley A. Layne of Salem, OR and Charlotte Ross Stockdale of Bellevue, WA; sister, Margaret Prvio Ionni of Pittsburgh, PA; and four grandchildren, Mathew Wagner Layne and Alexa Elizabeth Layne, both of Portland, OR, Aaron Robert Stockdale and Adam Ross Stockdale, both of Bellevue, WA survive him.
