Harold was born in Meade County, Kentucky on October 10, 1919 to John E. Wardrip and Eula Lawson Wardrip. Harold's mother, Eula, died when he was six weeks old and his father died in 1967. Harold worked as a mechanic his entire life and could listen to an engine and tell what was wrong with it. He began as mechanic for the railroad and went to working on jet engines for Boeing. From there he worked on diesel and gasoline engines. There wasn't an engine that he couldn't fix. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday, August 25, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
