Obituary for Rowton

Frank Rowton, Major, USAF retired, died Saturday, August 9, 2003 at the Heart Hospital of NM at the age of 82. A native of Kansas, he resided in Albuquerque for many years before and after retiring from the Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Garnette (Pat) I. Rowton; sons, William C. Rowton and wife Linda H., Donald T. Rowton, Robert L. Rowton; grandson, Richard A. Rowton; sister, Thelma R. Schroeder; cousin, Bud Rowton; and many step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. A man of many interests, he pursued many hobbies, including amateur radio, flying, airplane building, photography, archeology, genealogy, hunting and fishing. He was a Charter member, Perpetual Life member and Past Master of Zia Daylight Lodge No. 77, A.F. & A. M. He was also a plural member of Anthem Lodge #284, A.F. & A.M., of Scott City, Kansas and an endowed member of the Valley of Santa Fe, Orient of New Mexico, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He also was a member of several other organizations, including the Reserve Officers Association, the Retired Officers Association, The American Legion, National Sojourners, Heroes of 76, The National Rifle Association, the New Mexico Shooting Sports Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and the American Radio Relay League. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2003 at French Mortuary - Lomas Blvd. Chapel with burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Masonic Charity Foundation of New Mexico, Inc. is suggested.
