Obituary for Carrillo

David A. Carrillo, Age 41, passed away unexpectedly on August 1, 2003. David was born in Albuquerque to Phillip Jr. and Margaret Carrillo. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Phillip Sr. and Eleanor (Nora) Carrillo and Gorgonia and Flavio Vigil as well as his father Phillip Carrillo Jr. and mother-in-law Stella Sanchez. He is survived by his mother Margaret (Maggie) Carrillo and his father-in-law Manuel Candelaria; his wife Geraldine (Geri), sons, Eric (22) and Phillip (16), and daughter Felicia (13); brothers, Michael, Dennis and wife Lorene, and Paul Carrillo; sisters, Deborah Carrillo, Eleanor and husband Phillip Benavides; step mother Dolores Carrillo; sisters-in-law Eufemia (Fem) Lucero and Juanita Sanchez; nephews Dennis Jr. and Michael Jr. and Philip and Joshua Benavides; nieces Janice and husband Matt Trujillo, and Naomi Benavides; great nieces Samantha Trujillo and Dominique Carrillo; great nephew Matthew Trujillo. David loved children and was involved in mentoring high school journalism students. He was the news editor for the Albuquerque Tribune. He was also a judge for a high school essay contest. He coached AYSO boys for seven years and AYSO girls for six years. He was looking forward to hosting an exchange student from Chile this year. He became the Rio Grande girls soccer coach in 2002 and was looking forward to improving the program. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate time or money to the Rio Grande girls soccer team. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 6th and Copper, on Wednesday at 1:30 pm. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
