Obituary for Chavez

Josefita Perez de Chavez died peacefully in the arms of her loving daughter and main caregiver Connie, on Monday, August 5th at the age of 101 years. She was born in Morenci, AZ on January 18, 1902 to Juan Jose Perez and Luz Cota de Perez. Josefita outlived her four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her four children, Bonifacio Chavez and wife, Rosella of Temecula, CA; Esther Montoya and husband, Merced of Phoenix, AZ; Connie Romero of Albuquerque; Eddie Chavez and wife, Angie of Albuquerque; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. Josefita moved to Monticello, NM at a young age where she met her future husband, Aurelio T. Chavez, to whom she was married for 67 years. They moved to Albuquerque in 1955 to live closer to their children. Josefita was a very religious, devout Catholic who loved and trusted in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her favorite activities were going to Mass, praying the Rosary, singing her canticos, and later in life, watching Mass on TV. Everyone who knew her remarked about her sweet disposition, kind words and grateful nature. She will be missed by all her family. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated, Friday, 9:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE. Friends may visit on Thursday, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel.
