Obituary for Mornac

Rose Mornac, a resident of Albuquerque since 1999, passed away August 3, 2003. Rose was born Rose Faber in Michigan on August 10, 1905. She was confirmed in German in the Lutheran Church in Sebewaing, Michigan, and had her first three years in elementary school in German. As a 10-year old, she worked like a man on her father's farm, driving horses and working on the hay loader. While a teenager, Rose worked in Detroit for a doctor and did housework at $10.00 a week. She enjoyed dancing and met her future husband, Michael, at a dance hall. Rose and Michael moved to California, where she lived from 1955 until 1999. Michael preceded her in death in April 1980; as well as a daughter, Yvonne Mornac-Smith who passed away April 15, 1969. She belonged to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Simi Valley, California, until moving to Albuquerque. She considered her hobby as raising six children, also being blessed with nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Rose enjoyed playing the piano, singing hymns, reading her favorite book, The Bible. She had the 91st Psalm memorized. Funeral Services for Rose were held in Newhall, California, with interment at Eternal Valley Cemetery. Hillcrest Funeral Home 225 San Mateo NE 265-5959
