Obituary for SMITH

"Penny" Rosalie Joan Smith, age 65, left us to be with the Lord on August 30, 2003. Penny is survived by her husband, Joe Smith, of 43 years; her daughters, Debi Bartucci and husband, Pat, Dedi Smith-Van Winkle, and husband, Russ; and her beloved grandchildren, Zane and Grant Van Winkle. She is also survived by her niece, Melissa Finley; her sister, Kathy Finley and husband, Bob; her brother, Chuck Franks; and nephews, Earl Franks and Chuck Franks III and niece, Kathy Franks; her step-granddaughter, Kellie Bartucci-Williams and great-granddaughter, Peyton Williams, one Aunt, Marie McDowell, and many many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosalie and Charles Franks. Penny was a friend to so many, giving communion and comfort at the Rehab Center and working tirelessly in the family owned business, Statewide Products Co., Inc. Penny was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, St. Joseph's Auxiliary, and Casa Angelica. She was a member of Tanoan Country Club where she golfed with the "Niners". For many years, she and her friends, Kay Sullivan, Barbara Pluemer and Bonnie Bright owned Al La Carte Tours. In later years she and Joe toured many countries with their friends, Bill and Kay Sullivan, Jim and Mary Lipscomb, and highschool friends, Joan and Larry Ropa. She had an intense love for her family and friends and was always there for them. Penny Smith, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend-you will so be missed Dear Penny. Visitation will be held Wednesday September 3, 2003, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in Palm Chapel at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Rosary will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be recited at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday September 4, 2003 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will be private. Serving as Pallbearers are Bob Finley, Russ Van Winkle, Pat Bartucci, Chuck Franks III, Adam Triolo, and Herb Pluemer. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Norbertine Community, 5825 Coors SW, Albuquerque, NM 87121. Services are under the direction of: Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal SE 842-8800
