Obituary for LANE

Mae McPeek Lane, 101, born May 13, 1902 in Mora Minnesota passed away peacefully in her home on August 17,2003 in the care of her oldest grand niece, Pam Eckstrom. Mae was preceded in death by her sister, Pat Bouck; and brothers, Noral "Red" Hoefel and Roy McPeek. Mae came to Albuquerque in the early 1930's where she met and married Vere Lane, a local dentist. She belonged to the Dental Auxiliary, was an active volunteer for the Salvation Army and a member of First United Methodist Church. Mae loved a game of cards, sewing, cooking and most of all tatting. She made and sold 1000's of tatted greeting cards and donated the proceeds to the Salvation Army. She is survived by her nieces, Marlyavon Eckstrom and husband, Ron of Sulfur Springs, Texas; Judy Bishop and husband, Jim of Seattle, Washington; nephew, David Hoefel and wife, Suzanne of Albuquerque; and sister-in-law, Theresa Hoefel of Albuquerque. She also had 11 grand nieces and nephews; and 16 great-grandnieces and nephews. Services are pending.
