Obituary for MCNEIL

Melvin H. McNeil, 78, born in Waynoka, Oklahoma to Myrtle E. and F.H. McNeil on May 13, 1925, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2003. He grew up around Salano and Roy, NM and graduated from Salano High School. Melvin was a World War II veteran. He worked for Ryder Truck, Firestone, Sam Boren Tire, and Lee Doroghty in Albuquerque. Melvin retired from Yellow Freight Co. in Barstow, CA in 1990, where he was a resident for three years. After retirement he moved back to Albuquerque. Melvin was an avid bowler and Lobo fan. Beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Pearl McNeil; first wife, Rae D. McNeil Glaze, mother of his four surviving children; his parents; and sister, Vivian Solomon Fesenden. Melvin is survived by his four children, Lesyle Flowers of Peralta, Vicki Six of Anchorage, Alaska, Edward "Eddie" McNeil of Lakewood, Ohio, and Carol Emerson of Albuquerque; sister, Leota Hern of Cripple Creek, Colorado; ten grandchildren; 30 great- grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild; and two nephews. We wish to thank everyone for all their kindness. Services will be held at the Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano Road NW, on Monday, September 8, 2003. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th NW Albuquerque, 343-8008.
