Obituary for BRISTER

Cohn L. Brister, 73, passed away Sept. 1, 2003, in Albuquerque. Born in Texoma, Texas, he is the son of Raymond G. Brister and Ola A. Prichard Brister. Cohn was a retired teacher, having taught children in kindergarten through senior high school in the public schools system. He lived here nine years after moving from Calipatria, Calif. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho. He was a loving father and grandfather as well as a tireless educator. Cohen was preceded in death by his sister, Gelene Pugh, in June 2003. Cohen and his wife of 48 years, Lois L. Brister, had four sons. Cohn is survived by: his sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Gloria Brister of El Contro, Calif., Guy Brister of Yorbalinda, Calif., Greg Brister of Denver, Colo., Gary and Amber Brister of San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Juanice "Tookie" Williams of Prescott, Ariz., and Frances Fanning of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Cody and Kirk and Gina and Keri; and great-grandchild Tristan Brister. A memorial service will be Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at 10 a.m. in Vista Verde Mortuary Chapel, 4310 Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln. in Rio Rancho, N.M.
