Obituary for DORE

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday March 08, 2015

DORE, STEPHEN A. July 8, 1957 to March 3, 2015 Stephen passed away unexpectedly and suddenly on March 3, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Steve graduated from Cony High in 1978 in Augusta, Maine. He was a volunteer firefighter for the city of Vassalboro, Maine for approximately 20 years. He worked for the American Red Cross in Maine as a volunteer after he got hurt from driving 18-wheeler. He had been employed by Sandia Casino until he became disabled. He was a generous man to everyone. He had kind words to everyone that needed that little lift in life or a strong hug. He loved going to the kids sports throughout their school years. He enjoyed spending time with his family back in Maine every summer. He always enjoyed being outdoors, it didn't matter what he was doing he always enjoyed it. Always a steadfast New England sports fan, some of his last conversations with family were about the hope that springs eternal with a new Red Sox season. Enjoy the view from Heaven, Steve. The Sox need an angel. He loved living in New Mexico, but Steve never lost touch with his Maine roots, and kept in touch with the east coast world online, often updating his Maine friends and relatives with news and events going on around them they were not even aware of yet. And in character with his kind heart, never judging anyone for being behind the times. He was a great husband and father to his two children; he was never seen as a stepfather to them, always a father. He will always be loved and missed. He was preceded by his father Gerald Dore. He leaves and will always be lovingly remembered by his wife Diane of 29 years. Sons Andrew from Carver, Massachusetts, Daniel from Albuquerque. His mother Phyllis Dore from Vassalboro, Maine. Siblings: Sister Margaret Lawrence husband Mike of Fayette, Maine, brother Gerald Dore Jr and partner Mira of Tavernier, Florida, brother Robert Dore and wife Cindy of Vassalboro, Maine , brother Richard Dore and wife Jodi of China Maine, brother William Dore and partner Tammy and brother John Dore of Vassalboro, Maine. Condolences can be sent to Diane Dore at 9501 Desert Pine Ave SW, Albuquerque, NM 87121. Please visit Steve's online guest register at www.riversidefunerals.com.
