Obituary for KEMP

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Saturday February 28, 2015

KEMP, RALPH L. AKA "SPOT" Wonderful father and a great friend to many. Ralph Leroy Kemp died Saturday February 21, 2015 in Atlanta Georgia, with close friends by his side. Ralph was born to Doris and Elmer Kemp in La Junta, Colorado August 22, 1943. Ralph was raised in Albuquerque NM and worked his way through college as a member of SAE fraternity. He went on to graduate from the University Of New Mexico with a degree in English and Drama and Speech. Ralph earned his teaching certificate, although he never taught in the classroom he was very proud of this accomplishment. Ralph also served in the U.S. army from 1967 to 1968. He spent his career working for IBM in marketing and management development. Ralph was a bon vivant who enjoyed traveling abroad and experiencing other cultures. Yet he always made time to visit family and friends in Albuquerque twice a year, every year. Playing golf and dining out with friends and family is what he loved the most. Ralph enjoyed joking, old trivia, classic movies and politics, staying up into the late hours talking with friends and family. Ralph is survived by his daughter Robin Riekeman and son-in-law Russ Riekeman; granddaughter Luna Riekeman; and sister Brenda Lea Marsh. We will miss him here in New Mexico as will the casinos. Christmas will never be the same! In his memory, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
