BECK, BENJAMIN W., CAPT. USMC (RET.) Captain Benjamin W. Beck, USMC Retired, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 16, 2015 after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Scipio, OK to Coy Virgil and MaryLou (Nave) Beck. He joined the United States Marine Corps in September 1951 in San Francisco, CA. He served in Korea and later in Vietnam as a veteran of both wars and finished his professional military career as a Captain in September 1971. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia of Albuquerque; daughter, Benita Shawn Mitchell (John) of Albuquerque; step-children, Michael Ramirez, Jennifer Allen and Chris Rivera; step-grandchildren, Isabella and Colton Allen, Desma, Davina and David Ramirez; a brother, Leo and many other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Sophia, and his brother Phillip. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and his memory and influence will always have a treasured place in our hearts and he will be deeply missed. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Our Lady of Sorrows, 301 S Camino Del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Our Lady of Sorrows, Bernalillo. Burial will follow at 11:15 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Marine Corps. The family will host a reception after the cemetery service at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows in Bernalillo.
