SULLIVAN, JOHN John Raymond Sullivan, age 53, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015. John was born on October 23, 1961 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Joyce Vivian Leighter Sullivan and William Harrel Sullivan. He had a lifelong love of, and appreciation for, the water. As a teenager, he was a member of the Albuquerque Aquatic Club. As a young man, he attended the Coastal Diving School in Oakland, California. He was the happiest when he was submerged under the ocean water. He was certified to weld through the Albuquerque Vocational Technical Institute. Much of his time was spent underwater welding and welding for D and R Tank Welders. He also drove trucks for Swift Trucking Company, but his favorite ride was his recently restored 1969 Camaro. John will be remembered as a devoted father, a loving son, a protective brother and a giving friend. He met every challenge face on. His will was strong and his courage was boundless. He will forever be remembered as a fighter. John is survived by his parents, Bill and Joyce Sullivan of Belen, New Mexico; sister, Lisa Sullivan; daughter, Thea Rae Sonnier; stepsons, Tyson and Jason Guidry; grandson, Gavin Sonnier; granddaughter, Demi Rae Comeaux; niece, Stephany Trego; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at First United Methodist Church beginning at 11:00AM with Pastor Keath Baskett officiating. The family will receive friends during a reception following the service. John will be laid to rest beneath the waters which he so dearly loved.
