VALENCIA, JAKE SR. October 20, 1948 - February 5, 2015 Albuquerque, NM (SanJose), went in peace at age 66 on February 5, 2015, with his loving family by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maximiliano and Anastacia Valencia and his loving wife, Mary Ann Valencia. He is survived by his three sons, Jakey Valencia, Jr. and significant other, Cheryl Ann, Brian and Jessica Valencia and Max and Michelle Mestas; grandchildren, Isaiah Pena, Matthew Valencia, Andrew Valencia, Elijah Valencia, Noah Valencia and Brice Mestas; as well as many other relatives and friends who loved him dearly. Jake Valencia was one of the seven founding fathers of local 624 Blue Collar Union for the City Of Albuquerque. He was elected the second president of the union's history as well as being elected into two terms as the local 624 President, and President of Council 18. He wrote the local 624 Union Constitution and negotiated the 624 contract as it exist today and negotiated the highest three union wages contracts in the history of local 624. His work for Labor Unions is found at the UNM Law Library for being the first of its kind of language to be introduced and written into Union Contracts. He retired from the City Of Albuquerque SWD, in 1994 as a Superintendent after 28 years of service. He was also instrumental in getting the funding for the Jack Candelaria Community Center's Boxing Program. Pallbearers will be Isaiah Pena, Matthew Valencia, Andrew Valencia, Elijah Valencia, Vicente Gutierrez and Brice Mestas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Noah Valencia, Manuel Gutierrez, Jimmy Silva, Alfredo Parras, Michael Parras, Jessie Tapia and Lee Perea. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Church. A Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday; February 11, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. also at Holy Family Church, with Interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A potluck reception will follow the burial at Holy Family Parish Hall, anyone who wishes may bring a dish.
