Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday January 25, 2015

SNOW, WILLIAM FRANK Bill Snow passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, January 18. 2015. He was 62 and was a resident of Albuquerque for 41 years. Bill was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 3, 1952. He was the first of three children born to Robert Walton Snow (of Asbury Park, NJ) and Margery Mathews Day (of Westfield, NJ). Bill was preceded in death by his parents and also his favorite dog, Dakota. In 1962, the family moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico. His friends will fondly remember the many days of boating on the Pecos (Lake Carlsbad). He came to love the many cultures and mountains of New Mexico. Bill was an Eagle Scout, the fourth of 11 family members over three generations to earn Eagle. In Carlsbad, Bill worked in retail and as an oil rig roughneck. He was the co-founder of "Jet Marine." Besides boating, he enjoyed his Vette, once secretly kept a Harley by hiding it at the home of a friend, and later treasured a red 1979 Porsche 928 - "the fastest legal street car in its day". After completing two years at NMSU-Carlsbad branch, Bill transferred to UNM. In Albuquerque, he started "Bill Snow Woodworks" - a firm that built custom cabinets and shelves. For decades, he worked in sales for (among others) Apache Lumber, Galles Chevrolet, Frontier Ford, and Perfection Honda. Bill was a member of Nob Hill Presbyterian Church. He belonged to "The Press Club" and was a regular at the union hall of the Letter Carriers. Bill will be missed by his partner Maggie Doyle, their two dogs, Earl and Sammy, and the regulars at the Bullhead dog park. Bill was an incredible dog trainer. Besides those in Albuquerque, Bill also has friends in every corner of the state. Family survivors include siblings Bruce Snow and Nancy Dugger; nine nephews and nieces (Erin, Vicki, and Chip, Emily, Isaac, Jon, Matthew, Sarah, and Teresa); a step-mother (Margaret Snow); and four step-brothers (Allen, Charles, Mike, and Phillip Brininstool). On Saturday, MARCH 7 at 2:00 PM there will be a memorial service and reception at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo Blvd NE, Albuquerque. Later in a private service his remains will be interred near his mother at Carlsbad's First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in his name to friends of the animal shelter. Kennelkompadres.org.
