PEARSON, KAYE Madelaine "Kaye" Pearson, age 69, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on January 8, 2015. Kaye is survived by her daughter Paige Stubbs of Albuquerque, NM; her grandson Michael (Christina) Stubbs of Savannah, Georgia; her granddaughter Amanda Kaye Stubbs of Augusta, Georgia; 3 sisters: Diane Peabody of Statesboro, Georgia, Carol Gardner of Tifton, Georgia, and Judy (Kenny) Morris of Augusta, Georgia; two nephews and a niece: Jeff Peabody of Atlanta, Georgia, Pearson Gardner of Statesboro, Georgia, and Laura Peabody of Atlanta, Georgia; and childhood friend, Jan Dunlap of Albany, Georgia. Kaye was preceded in death by her father, Mark Edgar Koopmann, her mother Esther Pearson Koopmann and her infant daughter April Allison Proctor. Kaye's favorite times with family and friends were at the beach, in the mountains or serving as a tour guide around the sites of New Mexico. Her friends will remember her for her humor, intelligence, and willingness to share her opinions and thoughts. She was a source of strength to her family and friends as well as having a tender and loving heart for all animals especially her fur babies Katie and Cassie. Kaye developed her love of music into a professional singing career. After touring as a duo she settled in Albuquerque where she spent more than 30 years as a jazz singer accompanied by some of the finest musicians in the area. Kaye also worked at AlliedSignal/Honeywell. She was a founding member of the Department of Energy's Security Awareness Steering Committee and contributed to the development of DOE Orders and national training in this area. A gathering and potluck to celebrate Kaye's life will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 Friday, January 16 at the Rio Grande Center for Spiritual Living (4374 Alexander Blvd., NE). A family service and interment will be held at Mount Enon, Georgia at a later date. The family is asking in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Heart Association or your local humane society.
