STATLER, ROBERT (BOB) DANIEL Robert (Bob) Daniel Statler, age 89, died peacefully on January 3, 2015 at his home in Aztec, NM. He is survived by wife, Carlyn Statler; his cousin and companion in adventure Elmer Young; his children and step-children Amy Woolley, Carol Ritter, and Robert D. Statler, Jr., all of Albuquerque, NM, Rebecca Pino (Joe) of San Tan Valley, AZ, Robert Culp (Jan) of Farmington, NM and Cindy Culp of Lake Dallas, TX; grandchildren James Jensen, Robert Jensen, Karen Penry, Shelley Sorenson, Launi DeYoung, Robert Ritter, Daniel McClaflin, Thomas McClaflin, McKenna Culp and Christopher Culp; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and countless friends and family whom were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Newton and Margaret Gillett Statler, siblings Orpha Poole, Esther Huff, Margaret Kelley, Walter Statler, and Junior Newton Statler. Bob was born in Glendale, AZ, graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Civil Engineering and served in the US Navy. His lengthy career at Sandia National Laboratories took him and his family from Albuquerque to Coca Beach, FL and Tonopah and Las Vegas, NV. Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Farmington, NM and enjoyed singing with the Golden Tones. He had a life-long love of fishing, golf and western movies. He touched the lives of many people and was the respected patriarch of the Statler family. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his wisdom, strength and an indomitable love of life. Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Alumni Memorial Chapel, The University of New Mexico Campus, details at www.unmalumni.com/ alumni-chapel.html In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
