Obituary for WHITSON

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday December 07, 2014

WHITSON, CHRISTOPHER 2/19/46 - 12/3/14 Our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away suddenly the morning of December 3rd, 2014. He is survived by his wife Sylvia; his daughter Tammy Caillet-Falbaum, (Vance Falbaum); his grandsons Ryan, Tyler, Mason and Barrett; and his brother Roy. He will be missed by his family and many friends both in Tucson and across the country. Chris proudly served his country in the Army (in Vietnam) and his community, volunteering on a number of charity boards including, most recently, 88-crime. He and his wife Sylvia have also been generous supporters of many charitable causes, but few more so than the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson and the Educational Enrichment Foundation. From humble beginnings in Milwaukee, Wisconsin Chris graduated from Gallup High School and the University of New Mexico. After his military service he pursued his entrepreneurial interests building a number of buisnesses, the last being Whitmark, with his partner Mark McArthur, one of the largest independently owned custom packaging companies in the Southwest. He loved traveling, golfing and reading, especially about history and the great men and women who made it. He was also a regular figure at UA basketball games and an ardent Wildcat fan. Chis was, to put it simply , "one of the good guys" to all that had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be profoundly missed. The family will mourn his loss privately. In lieu flowers, memorial contributions in Chris's honor can be made to the charity of their choice.
