 SISK, MARY DEAN Mary Dean Sisk, 96, went home to be with the Lord on November 28, 2014 at her home at the Villages of Alameda where she had resided for the past six years. She was born in 1918 in Sweet Springs, MO, to Clay and Nina Killion, living, working and playing on the family farm with her three sisters and brother. She attended Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg, MO and graduated from Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield, MO. For several years, she was a pastor's wife, ministering at the New Salem Baptist Church at Marshall Junction, MO. She taught in rural schools in Missouri for eight years before moving to Miami, FL where she taught third grade for thirty years at Sunset Elementary School. She was loved and respected by students, parents, and colleagues throughout her career and was recognized by the Women's Clubs of Florida as their Teacher of the Year in 1974. She raised her two daughters in the beautiful 1950's in Miami, where they were active members of the University Baptist Church in Coral Gables. After her retirement, she volunteered in local hospitals and spent time with her friends, especially around the bridge table. She continued her volunteer work when she moved to Albuquerque in 1995 where she was a member of the Sandia Presbyterian Church as well as the Assistance League of Albuquerque and could be found working at the Bargain Box or behind the counter at the Blue Portal in Old Town. Those who knew her describe her kindness, her smile for everyone, and her joy in the little things. In her later years, she was a wily card player at the bridge table, able to "no trump" to the end. Mary Dean was predeceased by all her siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Bass and Dorma Seago and grandson Rich, all of Albuquerque, and many nieces and nephews who knew her as "Aunt Dee".
