Obituary for ADAM

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday November 23, 2014

ADAM, FRED C. Age 66, died on October 8, 2014 after a brief illness. He loved his family, being outdoors, good jokes, talking about baseball, bragging about friends, and playing brainy games. Fred moved to Albuquerque to be with his son Chris and daughter-in-law Kawthar "Cookie" Adam and he began and ended each day with his three-year old grandson Dino. Throughout his life he loved meeting new people, but also kept up with childhood friends. Baseball was a passion for him as well as playing games involving tactics and strategy. He spent eight years in Iraq and grew to love and respect the country's people and culture. Fred had a life-long love of the outdoors. An avid birder, he and his friend Cindy Foster chased birds from the mountains to the Bosque del Apache and he visited the Rio Grande Nature Center almost daily. Other survivors include his older grandson Andre Adam of San Diego, CA; daughter Cheryl Adam of Sacramento, CA; mother Rachel Ruiz Adam of Gardena, CA; sister Cindy Wall and husband Dave of Palos Verdes, CA; brother John Adam and wife Patty of Chandler, AZ; sister Sally Chaya and her partner Bradley of Albion, CA. A memorial service is planned in Los Angeles on December 13. Memorial donations can be made to Friends of the Rio Grande Nature Center, 901 Candelaria NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107.
