MCCONAGHY, MICHAEL (MIKE) aged 56, passed away on October 8, 2014 after a year-long struggle with cancer. Mike was a life-long resident of New Mexico, graduating from Manzano High School and the University of New Mexico. He was a resident of Valencia County since 1995, and was the owner of the Napa Auto Parts Store in Los Lunas for many years. Mike and Suzanne (Harris) McConaghy were married for 29 years, and his two daughters, Elizabeth and Rebecca, were his greatest joys. Mike donated time to local Girl Scout groups, and, with his daughters, ran GS of NM Trails' Father-Daughter Camp at Rancho del Chaparral in the Jemez for 10 years. His other civic activities included the LL Chamber of Commerce Summerfest Car Show Committee in its heyday, chartering the Valencia Toastmasters Club, crewing for the hot air balloon 'Seeking Nirvana', and running 7 years of geocaching events highlighting Valencia County. An avid automobile enthusiast, Mike was a member of the Pajarito Thunderbird Club and the Roadrunner Miata Club, and enjoyed tinkering in his garage. He is survived by his wife Suzanne; his children, Rebecca McConaghy and Elizabeth and Thaddeus McLane; his mother Janet; aunts and uncles; sisters- and brothers-in-law; four nieces; four nephews; many cousins; great-nieces and -nephews; and an incalculable number of friends; neighbors; geocachers; balloonists and associates; every one of whom considered him an all-around wonderful person. Michael's Life Celebration will be a potluck on Sunday, October 26th at Merrymet, his home, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. All who knew him and his family are welcome. Please bring a fond memory or some way Mike touched your life, and any photos you may have to share. If you need any more information, call Suzanne at 505-999-8296.
