KELLEY, JAY W After a long illness, Jay joined the Lord on September 30, 2014. He was 85 years old. Jay was a loving husband, father, brother-in-law and uncle and was beloved by all who knew him. He was born in San Saba TX, grew up in Brownwood TX, and was a cowboy at heart his entire life. Jay was a veteran of World War II (having lied about his age to join up) and the Korean war. In 1969, he retired from the Air Force and settled in Albuquerque where he continued a career in civil service at Kirtland AFB until retirement. Jay is survived by his wife Elvira; his daughter Kathleen and her husband Steven Kubica; his brother Roy Gene Kelley; sisters-in-law Norma Santos and Sylvia Esquibel and her husband Tony; many nieces and nephews; and his chihuahua Taco. He was preceded in death by his parents James Henry and Allie Belle Kelley; brothers James and Lewis, and sisters Mae, Thelma, and Vivian. A memorial service will be held at the Riverside Funeral Home in Albuquerque on Wednesday, October 8 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm, followed by a Rosary from 6:00 to 7:00. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 9 at 11:00 am at the Riverside Funeral Home, followed by internment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Due to health concerns, the family respectfully requests that you please refrain from wearing perfume or aftershave to these events.
