KELLY, HOWARD GUYNN age 90, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2014. A resident of Albuquerque for 48 years, he was born on May 22, 1924 in Midlothian, Texas and grew up in Waxahachie, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary, in 1997, and by his parents, Joseph Howard and Ora Roe Kelly. He is survived by three children: Jim (Charlene), Carolyn, and John (Jennifer); six grandchildren: Steve Kelly (Kathy), Mike Kelly (Heidi), Lauren Moore (Brian), Lindsey Degenhart (Nick), Leia Vetter (Nick), and Robert Kelly; and five great-grandchildren: Sara, Julia, Sam, Luke, and Everett. He graduated from Trinity University and served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant JG during WWII. He worked for Sears-Roebuck for approximately 25 years in Texas and Albuquerque, rising to the position of store manager. Admired for his excellent carpentry and handyman skills, he delighted in helping family and neighbors with a variety of projects. He was known for being an ever-willing raconteur and a dedicated, energetic advisor to friends and family; and he made some of the best homemade ice cream in town. Special thanks to the staff at Home Care Assistance, Beehive Village (Wilshire Ave.), and Hospice Compassus in Albuquerque. The family will hold a private service in the coming weeks to honor his life and spread his ashes.
