LEYVA, SOPHIE A. Age 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1980, died peacefully on September 14, 2014. She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Harris and husband, Paul of Albuquerque; nephew, Alfredo Montoya and family of Santa Fe, La Cienega and Las Cruces, NM; nephew, Joe Garcia and family of Albuquerque NM; niece, Alice Hall and family of Chico, CA; nieces Consuelo McCrosson and Pole Sena and families of Santa Fe, NM; niece, Matilda White and family of Cerrillos, NM and very special lifelong friend, Sophie Garcia and family of Albuquerque, NM. Sophie was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Apolonita Garcia; by her husband, Sixto in 1977; by her brothers, Pablo, Pedro, Antonio, Leonardo, Domingo; by her sisters, Anna Maria and Tranquilina and by nieces, Suzie, Margie and Juanita. Sophie was born and married in Pena Blanca, NM. She lived in Domingo, Santa Fe, Albuquerque and Cuba, NM where Sixto and she owned and operated the Town and Country Store for 25 years. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Santa Maria 317, a member of the St. Francis Fraternity and a member of the Golden Agers at Our Lady of Annunciation Church. Sophie had a love of travel and shared great times with friends or with Dorothy -- her camera was always ready to take another perfect picture. A Rosary will be recited Friday, September 19, 2014, 8:00 a.m. followed by a Mass at 8:30 a.m. officiated by Monsignor Voorhies at Our Lady of The Annunciation Catholic Church at 2532 Vermont St NE 87110. Interment will follow. Sophie was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Thank you to Lucinda, Monica and Will for their excellent hospice care.
