Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday September 14, 2014

MCCRACKEN, DAVID SCOTT David Scott McCracken (1956 - 2014) passed away peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by the love of his family, while listening to The Grateful Dead on Wednesday, September 10, 2014. He attended the University of New Mexico where he pursued a degree in Theater Arts under the direction of Harold Clurman - founder of The Group Theatre. During that time he was awarded the prestigious John F. Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival award for Acting. This brought him an invitation to join the Tony award winning Alley Theater in Houston, TX, which eventually led him to landing a role in a production in the UK under the direction of prolific British playwright Alan Ayckbourn. David played one of two characters in Ayckbourn's most ambitious productions Intimate Exchanges - a 3000-page play, with 30 scenes, 16 different endings, and required an entire year of evenings to perform the play in its entirety. He then studied with Stella Adler in NYC where he also met and befriended Aaron Sorkin - writer of the successful 'West Wing" t.v. series in which he then appeared in the pilot and several other episodes. Eventually Dave settled in Los Angeles with his Bulldog companions where he resided for almost 25 years. His television debut in 1988 was a recurring role on 'The Young and Restless'. He later had many guest appearances in 'ER', 'Cold Case', 'The West Wing', 'Sports Night', and 'Colombo' to name a few. Dave will be remembered most for his amazing comedic view on life. He made people laugh. He will be sincerely missed by his loving parents Fred and Betty McCracken of Albuquerque, NM; surviving sister Patty; and brother Robert and his wife Siri McCracken; nephew, Dan Fulloon; and niece, Emma Fulloon. A service is planned in the near future in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he will be laid to rest near his grandparents Barbara and Warren Graham and Elizabeth McCracken. Please contact pattyfulloon@gmail.com if you wish to receive service information once confirmed. Dave requested any donations to go towards a charity of your choice, or towards the RSPCA in honor of his bulldog companions.
