Obituary for TAFOYA

TAFOYA, ANTHONY (TONY) age 72 passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014 born in Albuquerque, NM on January 17, 1942 to Anselmo (Sam) Tafoya, and Alice Gonzales-Tafoya. Anthony took first place in his weight class in the New Mexico State Wrestling Championship, and graduated from Albuquerque High School that same year, 1961. He was a Marine Combat Veteran of the Viet Nam War, and ultimately a casualty of that conflict. Anthony was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local 412, and eventually opened his plumbing and heating business in California and Arizona. He enjoyed the great outdoors; fishing, hunting, and camping with his sons, brothers, and uncles. Anthony Tafoya will be fondly remembered for his generosity and kindness, and as a man who loved his family deeply. Anthony was preceded in death by his beloved parents Anselmo (Sam) Tafoya, and Alice Gonzales-Tafoya. He is survived by his loving family: sons, Ryan and wife Gina Tafoya and Erik Tafoya; step granddaughters, Stefanie and husband Jared Portillos, and Andrea Valenzuela; eight step great grandchildren; his brothers, Laurence (Larry) and wife Carole Tafoya, Ronald and wife Hoa Tafoya, Ted Tafoya and his two children Christopher and Alexandra; one uncle, five aunts, and numerous cousins. Anthony will be greatly missed by his loving family, and by those whose lives he touched. He will never be forgotten.A memorial service will be conducted at The Crossroads of Albuquerque 5200 Marble Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110 on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 12:00p.m. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St. NW.
