MARQUEZ, ALFONSO R. 1937-2014 Alfonso R. Marquez, age 77, a resident of Tome, passed away in his home on Saturday, August 30. He was a lifetime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Tome. He was also known as Jr., and was a Native New Mexican, who was born and raised in and around Tome, NM. He served our country as a member of the United States Air Force and will be buried with military honors. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He worked at the VA, TVI and St. Mary's Belen. Mr. Marquez worked very hard and always managed to have a garden. He was very proud of his garden, which included green chile and tomatoes. He loved being outside and working the land. Our beloved Dad and Grandpa will be missed very much by everyone. Alfonso was preceded in death by his father, Cresencio B. Marquez; mother, Inez Otero; mother-in-law, Mary V. Torres; and his son, Antonio W. Marquez. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years and 11 months, Griselda E. Marquez; daughter, Darlene Aragon and her husband Victor Aragon Sr.; sons, John P. Marquez, Matthew G. Marquez and his wife Brenda Marquez; daughter, Evangeline Marquez and her partner Anthony Rael; youngest daughter, Angelic Marquez King and her husband Jason King; twelve grandchildren, Nicole Sers, Tabetha Marquez, Victor Aragon Jr., Darlene Mattis, Antoinette Marquez, Michael Mattis Jr., Jonah B. King, Levi Marquez, Jacob Aragon Jr., Amanda Marquez, Alesaandria King, eight great grandchildren; and his small dog Precious. Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome, on Monday, September 8, beginning with a viewing at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Rosary at 10:00 a.m., and funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Cremation will follow the services. Pallbearers will be his brother-in-law, Carlos Hernandez, God-son, Henry Chaviria, and his grandsons, Antonio Marquez Jr., Victor Aragon Jr., Jonah B. King and Jacob Aragon Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Nicole Sers, Tabetha Marquez, Antoinette Marquez, Darlene Mattis, Amanda Marquez and Alessandria King.
