Obituary for CARLSON

CARLSON, CHARLES WAYNE Age 85, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Born April 17, 1929, he is survived by his four children, Catherine Carlson Plummer, Krista Carvajal, Cheryl Carlson Altares, and Charles Carlson, Jr. He is also survived by nine grandchildren (Karin, Victoria, Elliot, James, Danielle, Alexis, Timothy, Erin, and Colleen); four great-grandchildren (Madison, Jackson, Cole and Derrick). We all loved him dearly and will miss him so much. Charles attended Gettysburg College, where he met the love of his life, Virginia, who preceded him in death shortly before their 60th wedding anniversary. Charles completed the Gettysburg Lutheran Theological Seminary and a Master of History at University of Pittsburgh. He had a long and rich career as a pastor, teacher and musician. He sang with the Bach Choir in Bethlehem for more than a decade, and performed at Carnegie Hall with the Philadelphia Symphony. He enjoyed many years traveling all over the world with Virginia, and always tried to help those in need. In his retirement he volunteered regularly for Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity. Memorial services will be held in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania at Tree of Life Lutheran Church, Saturday, September 6 at 10:30 am.
