Obituary for FULGENZI

FULGENZI, CONSUELO (CONNIE) passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2014 with family by her side. She was born January 28, 1924 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Onofre and Cayetano Lucero. Connie graduated from Highlands High School in Las Vegas. She went on to attend Business College in Albuquerque. Connie married the love of her life Lawrence Fulgenzi on May 6th, 1944 while he was on leave from the Navy. In 1945 Connie went to work in Los Alamos as a legal secretary for the civil service. She went on to work at the Los Alamos National Science Laboratory in personnel. When Lawrence got out of the Navy he and Connie decided to make Los Alamos their permanent home. They were blessed with three daughters and in 1961 Connie left workforce when her youngest daughter was born. She was active in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and held many positions including president. She was also active in the Los Alamos Extension Club and along with her husband was an avid Lobo fan with season tickets for 44 years. She enjoyed travel within the United States as well as many parts of the world. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends especially her Tuesday morning walking group. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and cherished every minute spent with her family. She was preceded in death by her daughter Norma Jean Fulgenzi. She is survived by her husband of 70 years Lawrence; her two daughters Kathi and son-in-law Ray Zimmerman and Geri Carlberg. She also has five grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; as well as many loving family members. A special thanks to the staff of St Vincent Hospital, the caregivers and staff of The Nurse in the Family, and Hospice of Los Alamos for their care and compassion. Funeral services will be held at The Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos, at 3700 Canyon Road on Saturday August 23rd with the rosary to begin at 10 am and the mass at 11am.
