Obituary for SMITH

SMITH, BILLY D. Age 80, of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away peacefully on August 13, 2014 in his home with his family and loved ones in attendance. Born in Hutton Valley, MO to Flossie and Claude Smith, he lived most of his adult life in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Billy was a Korean War Wounded Veteran and after having served his country, went to college on the GI Bill, first at Bakersfield Community College, then completed his business degree at Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield, MO. After college, Billy and his wife Carolyn moved to Scottsdale, Arizona where they started a family with two children, Jennifer Bryant and Todd Smith. Working for the Comptroller of the Currency, they relocated to Albuquerque, NM where he would spend the remainder of his career working with national and local banks as well as the Veteran's Administration. Billy lived and enjoyed a life of golf, playing for over 50 years and had two holes-in-one in his golfing career. Billy is survived by his wife Carolyn; daughter Jennifer (Phillip) Bryant; son Todd (Renee) Smith; brothers, Don (Verna) Smith, Richard Smith; sisters, Mary Alice (Wayne) Norris, Carolyn (John) Tapley; as well as one grandchild (Chase); many loving nieces and nephews, and extended family. A special thank you to Hospice of the Sandias in Albuquerque for their loving care and support. Also thank you for the support and assistance from the membership of Sandia Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at the Daniels Family Funeral Services chapel, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM. Funeral services for Billy will be at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution NE, Albuquerque, NM, on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at 10:00AM. Billy will then be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 2:15PM.
