GRADY, THOMAS RANDOLPH JR. Funeral services are scheduled for 10am, Tuesday August 5, 2014 at Ballard Chapel for Thomas Randolph Grady Jr., 83, who passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 in Roswell, NM. Pastor Richard Smith will be officiating with burial to follow at South Park Cemetery. Roswell Veteran's Honor Guard will conduct Military Graveside services. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 Monday August 4, 2014 at Ballard Funeral Home. Thomas was born April 16, 1931 in Fort Worth, TX to Thomas R. Grady and Eula Weston Grady who preceded him in death. Thomas married Joan Flurry August 31, 1957 in Albuquerque, NM she preceded him in death September 23, 2009. Also preceding him in death is his sister Elizabeth Roberson, granddaughter Shana Forrester and great-grandson, Dylan Davis. Those left to cherish his memory are his son Randy Grady and wife Julie of Roswell, NM; daughter Kathy Brown and husband David of Roswell, NM; brother Alfred Grady and wife Sarah of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren, Jason Forrester and wife Paddy, Shelly Forrester, Jamie Watson and husband Josh all of Roswell, NM, Jim Grady of Broken Arrow, OK; sister-in law Pat Greer of Roswell, NM; Nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Thomas graduated from Roy, NM High school and received a BA degree from UNM. From there he joined the US Navy and served during the Korean War. He later retired from the Naval Reserve with the rank of Lt. Commander. In 1957 he began a career with Mountain Bell and retired from Mountain Bell in 1982. He worked for the state of NM in Clovis as a tax auditor from 1983 to 1991. In 1993 he moved to Roswell to be close to his children and grandchildren. Thomas loved traveling across NM. He loved reading books, all types of sports, and was particularly interested in NM history. Pallbearers for Thomas will be Jim Grady, Josh Watson Steve Watkins, Bruce Thul, Tyler Forrester and Dale Nelson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy Grady and Jason Forrester.
