Obituary for DEAN

DEAN, DONALD L. died peacefully at home surrounded by his immediate family on Sunday, July 20, 2014. Don is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ana Dean; his son, Jonathan and wife, Leigh; daughters, Ashlee, Melissa, and Daisy, and son Randall, and wife Barbie; nine grandchildren who are his pride and joy: Stephen, Jason, Travis, Mitchell, Rilee, Blane, Mateo, Joaquin, and Gavin; his siblings, Patsy Newsom, Melody Wells, and Harold Dean, all from Coolidge, TX; four great-grandchildren; and his best friend, Steve Ewing. Don was born in Texas and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1963, he moved to Albuquerque where he started Dean Construction in 1970 and retired in 2010. Don, also enjoyed public service and was appointed Chairman of the Private Industry Council in 1979 under Governor Bruce King. He was a Commissioner and Coach with YAFL, coached and refereed soccer and little league baseball. He was an avid slalom water skier, and enjoyed snow skiing. Don was one of the kindest and most generous person on this earth and will be greatly missed, not only by his family, but by the multitude of friends that he had. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the UNM Children's Hospital. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Strong-Thorne Chapel, 1100 Coal Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM.
