SHUMAKE, RONALD P. Ronald Paul "Ronnie" Shumake, 65, of Hannibal, Missouri, died at 11:36 PM Monday, April 28, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Hannibal. Burial with Full Military Honors by Emmett J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Bassist Ronnie "The Iceman" Shumake began working in R&B clubs in St. Louis, MO, the birthplace of modern blues. He performed with Willie Nelson, Danny Gatton, Gary Muledeer, Papa John Creech, Delaney Bramlett, John Lee Hooker, Kris Kristofferson, Steve Gaines, Bill Medley, Ray Price, Roger Miller, Harvey Mandel, Tammy Wynette, Glen Campbell, Lester Chambers, Helen Cornelius, K. K. Martin, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Gary Morris, Rusty Kershaw, Doug Kershaw and Canned Heat. As a former member of Canned Heat, he is featured in The Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock and Roll. One of Ronald's prominent works, "Sky King", was co-authored with Danny Gatton, the "Master of the Telecaster" on his "Unfinished Business" album.
