 CASAUS, JESSE Casaus, Jesse (Lt. Col.) age 89, went home to join his beloved wife of 60 years, Rose, April 9, 2014. Jesse was born in Clovis, NM, on August 6, 1924. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and completed over 35 combat missions as Lead Bombadier of a B-24 during WW 11. He was recalled to active duty for the Korean War aboard a B-29, Superfortress. He was assigned to flying in the Strategic Air Command's world-wide air nuclear surveillance missions for the Cold War. Later, he was assigned to the Office of Special Investigations, in Berlin, Germany, engaging in countering the extensive espionage activities of the KGB and East Germany NKVD. Followed by a subsequent assignment in South Korea as Chief of the US Air Force counterintelligence against North Korea and Chinese insurgent groups. As his final military assignment he was stationed in Puerto Rico, in charge of counter intelligence activities and major crimes investigations for the entire Caribbean areas of USAF interest; as well as, assisting the U.S. Secret Service. He was also a Professor of Criminology and Sociology. He retired after 28 years of military service as a Lieutenant Colonel. Appointed as Clerk of the Federal Court for the U.S. district court of New Mexico. He retired from the Federal Court in 1990. Then, he became a Senior Consultant for the World Bank and the U.S. Agency for International Development. Retired for the third time in 1996. His education included: a BA in Criminology from the University of California (Phi Beta Kappa) Berkley and a MSPA from George Washington University. Jesse is survived by his daughter Barbara Carson; grandson Brian Carson (Jennifer Carson); great-grandchildren Skylar and Nico Carson. A Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 9:30 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5303 Phoenix Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM. Followed by a memorial service at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 12:45.
