Obituary for HUNTER

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday April 17, 2014

HUNTER, DOROTHY "DOT" Dot's friends and family could always count on her for a good country song, a bright smile and a perfect piece of chocolate pound cake. A truly caring and selfless woman, Dorothy "Dot" Hunter died peacefully in her Albuquerque home on Friday, April 11, 2014. Meeting Dot, as her friends knew her, was feeling a warmth and love that you knew her family experienced every day. Born to Ruth and E.G. Tims in Stephenville, Texas, on April 21, 1934, Dorothy spent most of her life in Espanola, N.M., working hard and raising her family. Dorothy was one of the first tellers at Valley National Bank in Espanola, and later retired from her career as an accountant for Hunter Motor Company in 1999. In her spare time, she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir at Valley View Methodist Church. She spent a joyful life traveling, hosting family gatherings, working in her community and, most importantly, she was filled with the love of the family. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Beverly Gallegos and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Melanie Salazar and Ramon Gallegos; and great-grandson, Caden Salazar Floyd, who carry and share the love, joy and light she gave to them. Dorothy is reunited with her dearest love and husband, C.L. Hunter of Espanola; her parents; and siblings, Floyd Tims, Betty Dickerson and Eloise Velarde. The Gallegos and Salazar families would like to offer thanks to those that provided kind support and care to Dorothy, including caregivers, Isidra and Betty Contreras. A special thank you goes to Teles De la Cruz, Dot's close friend, confidant, and caregiver. Services will be held on Saturday, April 19th at 11:00 am at FRENCH-University. Interment will follow for Dorothy and C.L. at Sunset Memorial Park at 924 Menaul Blvd NE.
