Obituary for LOVE

LOVE, JOHN EDWARD Age 91, resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, March 17, 2014. A New Mexico native, John was born in Clovis and returned to New Mexico in Albuquerque following his distinguished military service and business career. He is survived by his sister, Lois Maddox; nephew-in-law, COL James B. Robinson, Jr. (USAR-ret.); great-nephew, LTC Dwight E. Robinson (ret.) and his son, Karr Barnum Robinson; great-niece, Amber A. Lamote and husband, Jeff, their daughters, Joy and Josephine; Eulaine Hall, daughter of belated wife, Bernice Love. John was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Love; parents, Roger and Dovie Mae Love; sister, Verna Mae Hood; niece, Sandra Ann Robinson; and great-niece, Holly Kirsten Robinson. Mr. Love graduated from Albuquerque High School. He served in the US Army during WWII as a member of the New Mexico National Guard. John was one of the last remaining survivors of the Bataan Death March. After WWII, John continued his education, graduating from UNM in 1950. He chose a career with Conoco Oil Company, residing in El Paso, Ft. Worth, and finally Houston, where he retired as an executive. Following his retirement, John relocated to Durango, CO and Arlington, TX before returning to Albuquerque in 2003 where he has resided at La Vida Llena. Cremation has taken place and John will be interred at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorial service will be held in Carter Hall at La Vida Llena at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014. Interment will take place Friday, April 11, 2014, 12:45 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with full military honors.
