Obituary for GARFIELD

GARFIELD, MARY E. Age 83, of Albuquerque went home to be with her Lord on February 21, 2014 after a brief illness. She was born on April 24, 1930 in Waverly, New York. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1948 and then attended the Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing. She became a registered nurse in 1951. Mary worked at Robert Packer hospital for many years before moving to Albuquerque, NM where she worked for several doctors including Dr. A.J Tanny, Dr. Lucian (Red) Rice, and Dr. Steven Wolcott. She worked at the Presbyterian Urgent Care and was named the Presbyterian Hospital employee of the year and was loved by all her patients. She is survived by her brother, Joe (Anthony) Garfield and wife Arlene of Endwell, NY; her sister, Sue Maloney of Waverly, NY, her sister, Ann Burke and husband Kenneth of Albuquerque, NM; her sister-in-law, Kathy Garfield of Endwell, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews. In her later years, Aunt Mary was particularly close to Mary Kay Pohl, Jamie Morley, and Lisa Joyce and their spouses. They were her pride and joy! She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Angeline Garfield; brother, Matthew (Michael) Garfield; and Nettie Stafford, her best friend of many years. Throughout her life she loved being a nurse and she loved her family, but above all, she loved her Lord and dedicated her life to praying and lifting up others. She will be greatly missed. Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 28, 2014, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 811 Guaymas Pl. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
