Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday January 24, 2014

ROSSON, DAVID E., JR. Age 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1980, died Friday, January 17, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Missy, of Albuquerque; children, Tom and his wife Tammy of Rio Rancho, Eileen and husband Kris Webb of Albuquerque; one brother, Joseph Rosson and partner, Rick Crane, of Knoxville, TN. He was also blessed and experienced great pride in his grandchildren, Matthew and Shanna, and most recently, Ariana. His career began in college as he worked every other trimester at the Naval Shipyards in Norfolk, VA. After achieving his degree in metallurgical engineering at the University of Tennessee in 1963, he worked at the David Taylor Model Basin near Washington, D.C. In 1970, he joined the AEC in Oak Ridge, TN. He later transferred to Albuquerque Operations of the AEC which evolved into the Department of Energy. As a program manager, David was involved in nuclear weapons production and later in the environmental impact of nuclear waste. David enjoyed a love of the outdoors, both bass fishing from his boat and bird hunting, especially with his dog Napoleon. His family was at the center of his life. This included his wife, Missy, and his children, Tom and Eileen. David became a "card carrying Catholic" after studying with Fr. Ark at St. John XXIII Catholic Community. He volunteered there as a CCD teacher and leader in the RCIA program for adults studying the Catholic faith. Over the years, he also participated in many of the John XXIII choirs. As David's mobility lessened in later years, he was confined to a wheelchair, but remained involved in church and family activities and visited regularly with friends. His love of God and church manifested itself with daily reading of scripture and meditation. Rosary will be recited on Sunday, January 26, 2014, 7:30 p.m., at John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE. Mass will be celebrated Monday, January 27, 2014, 11:00 a.m., also at John XXIII Catholic Community with Father Ark Biczak, Celebrant.
